Animals Affected By Brookline Oil Spill Set To Be Released: Report

More than 40 ducks and geese were dirtied by the early December oil spill.

BROOKLINE, MA — More than 40 birds that were affected by the Muddy River oil spill were returned to their habitat Friday after being treated, according to a report from 7 News Boston.

On Dec. 8, The police and fire departments descended on the river near the Longwood MBTA station in response to the reported leak. The affected animals have since been treated by the New England Wildlife Center and are ready to be set free once again.

Investigators at the state’s Department of Environmental Protection have identified the Brook House condominium complex as potentially being responsible for the 100-gallon leak.
