Boston College Grad Student Recovering After Marathon Bomb Blasts

Britney Loring is a grad student studying law and business at Boston College.

When two bombs went off on Boylston Street last week, Boston College graduate student Brittany Loring was celebrating her 29th birthday near the Boston Marathon finish line.

Now, Loring is on the long road to recovery at Boston Medical Center after she sustained serious leg injuries and a cracked skull in the bomb blasts, NBC News reported this week.

Loring suffered small pellet-sized wounds across her body and, at first, it wasn't clear whether she would be able to walk again. However, NBC reported that Loring has made progress in her recovery and is now up on crutches.

Boston Medical Center told NBC News that it is not clear how long Loring will remain in the hospital, but that she will need both physical and mental therapies when she leaves.

For now, Loring's family and her fiancé, John McLoughlin, are staying by her bedside as she recovers.

“She's very strong. She'll move on. This will be a blip in the past,” McLoughlin told NBC News. “I hope a year from now we're all good.”
