BROOKLINE, MA – Bill Macgregor is set to be the next state representative for the 10th Suffolk District.

MacGregor was elected to the position in a special state election held on May 30, taking home 2,455 votes, according to unofficial election results from the city of Boston.

MacGregor will represent Brookline’s 16th precinct in Norfolk county and part of Boston in Suffolk County.

“Representing you is a responsibility that I do not take lightly and I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to work alongside all of you to reach our shared goals for this community,” MacGregor wrote in a Facebook post.

The inclusion of a special state primary and election was to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of state Rep. Ed Coppinger (D-10), said Brookline Town Clerk Ben Kaufman.

Coppinger filed a letter of resignation at the House Clerk's office at the end of February to join the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council.
