French Delicacy Banned In Brookline: Report

The dish reportedly requires long-term harm to the animals.

BROOKLINE, MA — Town Meeting members voted in favor of banning the sale of foie gras in all restaurants and stores, according to a report from Brookline News.

Foie gras is a French dish in which fattened duck or goose liver is the main ingredient. Article 20 was proposed by four Brookline High School students who are a part of the BHS Warriors for Animal Rights Club. According to the students, the process by which the animals' livers are fattened is cruel and painful for them.

With the passing of the article, the sale of foie gras will now be punished by a $300 fine followed by random inspections of the business in the future to ensure the violator is no longer selling the delicacy.
