BROOKLINE, MA — The town announced that each of its five fire stations will receive a major upgrade through renovations, according to a report from Brookline News.

Funding was approved by voters in November 2022 through a debt exclusion for the project worth approximately $65 million. If renovations require funds beyond the $65 million estimate, an additional bond authorization will be put forward for another Town Meeting vote.

In July, station four on 827 Boylston St. was closed to allow for work to be conducted for what at the time was estimated to be a nine-month process. Construction began recently, and according to Deputy Capital Director for the town’s Building Department Lap Yan, station one on 140 Washington St. is next in line followed by five, six, and seven respectively.
