Brookline Celebrates Winter Walk & Roll To School Day
It was the fourth year MassDOT invited students across the state to bundle up and walk to school in the middle of Winter.
BROOKLINE, MA — If you saw more students than normal for Winter bundled up and heading to school by foot or by bike Wednesday, that's because students across the town participated in the Winter Walk and Roll to School Day.
The fourth annual event, held on the first Wednesday of February, had students and families across Massachusetts walk and roll to school in an effort to practice safe pedestrian habits and reduce their environmental impacts. MassDOT and Ma Safe Routes To School promote the event.
Even though Brookline is filled with walkers, in the winter it can sometimes seem easier to hitch a ride with a parent than walk all the way to school. But a number of folks bundled up and rode bikes or walked to mark the day.
