Brookline Community Foundation Names 2022 Community Grant Recipients

BROOKLINE, MA — The Brookline Community Foundation (BCF) has announced this year’s Community Grant Program recipients.

BCF will award a total of $287,475 in grant funding to the following organizations:

• 2Life Communities to support Creative Approaches to Healthier Aging in Brookline.
• Black N Brown Club Inc. to support urban outdoor educational programming; put together an Affordable childcare program Committee, and; hire a research team to conduct a study on the cost and negative effects of unavailable affordable childcare on the lives of Black N Brown families living in Brookline.
• Boston Worker’s Circle Center for Jewish Culture and Social Justice to support programming and general operations to enrich life in the Brookline community.
• Breaktime to support vital programming for young adults experiencing homelessness.
• Brookline Arts Center to advance equity both organizationally and in the arts.
• Brookline Asian American Family Network (BAAFN) to support building an Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) book collection for Brookline’s K-8 schools. Fiscal Sponsor: the Brookline Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Relations.
• Brookline Council on Aging/Brookline Multi-service Senior Center Corporation to fund Tech Buddies, which provides a free tablet and/or Internet service, along with individualized, personal technical support, to vulnerable low-income seniors and adults with disabilities living in Brookline.
• Brookline Improvement Coalition (BIC) to establish a low- and moderate-income incentive program that leads to homeownership to help close the racial homeownership gap by assisting BIPOC residents in becoming homeowners in Brookline.
• Brookline Interactive Group (BIG) to support programming aimed at advancing technological equity and organizational diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
• Brookline Symphony Orchestra to support Hymn for Everyone: Encouraging Diversity in the Brookline Arts Space.
• Brookline Teen Center to expand their first ever afterschool program for middle school youth; expand the Be Ready program for teens, and; underwrite staffing and operational support for both programs.
• Caritas Communities, Inc. to improve the safety, accessibility, functionality, and longevity of their affordable housing residence at 1876 Beacon Street in Brookline.
• Carroll Center for the Blind to provide orientation and mobility services to blind and low-vision individuals who live, learn, and work in Brookline.
• Emerald Necklace Conservancy to provide tree care, support programs, and increase accessibility in the Emerald Necklace.
• FriendshipWorks to continue providing Friendly Visiting, Friendly Helping, and Medical Escort programs to older adults in Brookline.
• Heart of a Giant Foundation to provide blood pressure screenings and health education programs in Brookline.
• Hidden Brookline to help build a new website and create an augmented reality walking tour of Brookline. Fiscal Sponsor: the Brookline Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Relations.
• MAB Community Services, Inc. to support healthy aging programming for Brookline’s older adults who live with blindness or low vision.
• Progress First Aid (An Initiative of Squashbusters) to increase access to first aid knowledge and training for Brookline middle and high school students.
• Step by Step Supportive Services to provide vocational services for individuals with mental health challenges.
• Steps to Success, Inc. to support the High School Pathways to Success program.
• Studios Without Walls to support “What the World Needs Now,” a free public outdoor sculpture exhibition at The Riverway Park. Fiscal Sponsor: Mission.Earth
• Tactical Reintegration Project, Inc. general operating support to address veterans’ social determinants of health utilizing aqua therapy.
• Vinfen/Gateway Arts to support operations and programming for Brookline community members.
• Women Thriving, Inc. to support programming and organizational operations for the Brookline community.
