Brookline Is Taking Out The Trash On A New Level

The town is picking up extra trash from residents for an extra week.

BROOKLINE, MA — The Department of Public Works is providing residents with a “trash amnesty” week beginning on Tuesday, May 27.

For five days, community members will be able to dispose of extra bags of household waste alongside their Town-issued trash can on their scheduled trash pickup day. Basic household trash will be accepted however large items such as televisions, mattresses, and furniture will likely not be taken. The DPW also strongly encouraged residents to not place the extra trash outside until the morning of pickup to prevent rodent presence.

The trash amnesty week is part of Brookline’s Hybrid Pay-As-You-Throw Trash Program.
