Brookline PAX Endorses Rep. Tommy Vitolo & Sen. Cindy Creem

Both Vitolo and Creem are running for re-election this fall.

BROOKLINE, MA — Brookline PAX has endorsed both State Senator Cindy Creem and State Representative Tommy Vitolo for re-election this fall.

Formed in 1962, Brookline PAX is a local political organization that advocates for excellent public education, excellent public services, respect for public employees and organized labor, respect for the environment, and diversity, social justice, and peace. PAX requires a 60 percent vote of board members to endorse.

"PAX is proud to endorse the re-elections of two progressive champions, Cindy Creem and Tommy Vitolo,” Marty Rosenthal, PAX co-chair, said in a statement. "Both have a long track record of standing up for our values and working with colleagues to enshrine those values into law. Brookline is lucky to be represented by two outstanding legislators.”

"Cindy and Tommy are two excellent public servants. they constantly fight for PAX's values,” he continued. "They have earned the enthusiastic endorsement of PAX and we ask you to vote for them both."

Creem has represented Brookline, Newton, and Wellesley since her election in 1999. She is the Senate Majority Leader, and serves as the Chair of the Senate Committee on Global Warming and Climate Change.

“Legislators make change when they have strong working relationships with grassroots community groups like Brookline PAX,” Creem said in a statement. "I'm honored to have Brookline PAX's endorsement, and I look forward to our continued collaboration to address climate change, reform the criminal justice system, and promote equity and investment in public education."

Vitolo has represented the 15th Norfolk district, North Brookline, since his election in 2018. In his second term, he serves as the Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Election Laws.

"I'm delighted to have the endorsement of Brookline PAX,” Vitolo said in a statement. I have no doubt that we'll continue our work, together, to strengthen equity, education, and the environment in Brookline and across the Commonwealth."

"Cindy Creem and Tommy Vitolo have worked shoulder to shoulder with PAX leaders on progressive initiatives over many years,” Long-time PAX board member Terry Kwan said in a statement. "Their values are our values and they fight to turn those values into law.”

Kwan said she expects Brookline PAX will be making more endorsements, both for state-wide candidates and for other candidates for the legislature, in the coming months.
