Brookline Police Celebrate Accreditation Status
The Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission has nearly 400 standards for departments to adhere to.

BROOKLINE, MA — The police department celebrated its reaccreditation status with a ceremony on Wednesday.
Becoming state-accredited is a voluntary designation that police departments can choose to achieve. There are 274 mandatory standards a department must achieve accreditation, along with a plethora of optional standards.
“For the community, accreditation demonstrates our commitment to transparency, accountability, and continual improvement. It reassures residents that their police department operates at the highest professional standards, and that public safety is supported by policies designed to protect the rights and wellbeing of every individual,” Brookline Police Chief Jennifer Paster said in a statement.

Paster gave credit to Lieutenant Derek Hayes for his efforts as a driving forc behind making sure the department earned its status.
