Brookline’s COVID-19 Positivity Rate Rises To 8.49%, Cases Decrease

BROOKLINE, MA — Brookline's positive COVID-19 test rate is now at 8.49 percent, a 0.6 percent increase since last week, according to the latest municipal-level data released by the Department of Public Health Thursday.

This week, the Town of Brookline reported a two-week case count of 453 compared to last week's case count of 516. Also over the past week, Brookline was adding 50 new cases per day per 100,000 people. That's lower than the 56.9 cases per 100,000 in Brookline measured on May 26.

On Thursday afternoon, the state Department of Public Health reported 2,561 new coronavirus cases and 24 deaths. The weekly average case count was 1,450.3 daily cases, down from 2,246 a week before.

The latest state vaccine report showed the number of fully vaccinated residents is 5.39 million. Over 63 percent are fully vaccinated in Brookline, and 74 percent are partially vaccinated.

The state releases town-by-town testing data every Thursday, including the number of people tested, the testing rate, the positive test rate, cases and infection rates.
