Brookline School Unveils Brand New Space Ahead Of School Year

The school was chosen to have its teachers' lounge fully renovated with the help of the Boston Bruins.

BROOKLINE, MA — Health benefits company Wellpoint teamed up with the Boston Bruins to provide a Brookline school with a brand new teachers’ lounge.

The Edith C. Baker School on 205 Beverly Road in Brookline was named the winner of the 2025 Teachers’ Lounge Makeover Contest, which is meant to reward school staff who exceed their responsibilities to their students and school communities. The Baker School staff entered itself into the program not long after the death of a close staff member.

The new lounge was unveiled on Wednesday Aug. 27. The formal event was attended by Wellpoint Government Relations Director Michael Vazquez, Bruins Foundation President Bob Sweeney, Baker School Principal Saeed Ola, and the entire Baker School staff. The fully-renovated space included all new furniture and “wellness-focused” amenities.
