Brookline Select Board Moves Forward With Bike Lane Project: Report
The project would redesign Washington Street to be safer.

BROOKLINE, MA — The Select Board voted to advance plans for a reconstruction project on Washington Street, according to a report from Brookline News.
The project’s main feature includes the implementation of separated bike lanes in both directions of traffic from Beacon Street to Brookline Village. The town is seeking approximately $29 million in state funding.
The vote passed by a total of 4-1, with member John VanScoyoc being the sole to vote not in favor of the motion. Multiple business owners objected to the project, primarily citing the elimination of parking spaces in the area.
