BROOKLINE, MA — Superintendent of Schools Linus Guillory Jr. announced he plans to resign from his position later this year.

In a letter addressed to the School Committee, Guillory said his final day as Superintendent will be Monday, June 30. While he did not cite a specific reason for his decision, Guillory acknowledged that it was a difficult choice to make.

“We launched a strategic plan that will continue to benefit our district long into the future,” Guillory wrote. “We are elevating expanded learning opportunities for all learners through the adoption of our curriculum and navigating unprecedented challenges with unity and resilience.”

Guillory plans to facilitate a smooth transition for his interim successor during his final two months. He was first appointed to his position in 2021, and received an overall satisfactory review from the School Committee. However he has since faced criticism and allegations of financial mismanagement, according to a report from The Boston Globe.
