Brookline Teen Overcomes Odds With MIT Admittance: Report
Viraj Dhanda is non-verbal and autistic.

BROOKLINE, MA — A non-verbal autistic resident achieved a great feat when he was accepted to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, according to a report from Boston 25 News.
Viraj Dhanda was diagnosed with autism when he was two years old, and did not begin to learn basic communication until he was 10. Around that time, Dhanda’s family began looking at options from Augmentative and Alternative Communication. Through this process, where he obtained a special device that facilitated communication. He was then able to attend public school in Brookline before graduating from Fusion Academy in Newton this year.
Dhanda has the goal of being an economist, writer, and disability rights advocate after graduating from college.
