Brookline's State Rep. Tommy Vitolo Secures Spot On Ballot
Vitolo is running against Real Fernandez for his third term.

BROOKLINE, MA — Brookline State Representative Tommy Vitolo has secured a spot on the ballot for the September 6 Democratic primary, his campaign announced Wednesday.
Vitolo, who will run against former Select Board Vice Chair Raul Fernandez, is seeking his third term as Brookline's state representative.
"Collecting the signatures necessary to be listed on the ballot provided me an opportunity to reconnect with neighbors who I haven't been able to see during the Covid pandemic,” said Vitolo in a statement. "It was also a great way to meet with Brookliners from Cottage Farm, Longwood Mall, Pill Hill, and the Point, all neighborhoods new to the recently redrawn Fifteenth Norfolk district as well as Brookline Village, Coolidge Corner, JFK Crossing, and Washington Square."

"Tommy Vitolo is a champion for Brookline," said Brookline philanthropist Chobee Hoy, one of Vitolo’s nomination papers signatories. "He shows up for our local businesses and our non-profits and he delivers for our community. I'm proud to have Tommy as my state rep."

"I'm proud to have collaborated with my colleagues in the House of Representatives to produce real, tangible impacts for people in our community and across the Commonwealth,” Vitolo said in the legislature while collecting signatures. "We've expanded access to abortion in anticipation that the Supreme Court may strike down Roe. We've reformed policing state-wide. We've put more money in the local school districts, updating an antiquated law that left many Black and Brown students behind. And we've made real progress towards reducing our carbon emissions, adopting a roadmap that will get us there by 2050."
For his reelection effort, Vitolo is endorsed by four of Brookline's five Select Board members including Chair Heather Hamilton, over 80 percent of town-wide elected officials including School Committee Chair David Pearlman, Library Trustee Chair Michael Burstein, and Housing Authority Chair Mike Jacobs, and over 75 percent of Brookline's Town Meeting Members.
He's also endorsed by former Governor Mike Dukakis, three former Brookline state representatives, several dozen former Select Board and School Committee members, and four former Brookline public school principals.
