The Children’s Book Shop In Brookline To Close After 45 Years
The Children's Book Shop has been selling a wide variety of kids books at its 237 Washington Street store since 1977.
BROOKLINE, MA — The Children’s Book Shop in Brookline Village will close for good on April 30, the store said in an announcement Saturday.
As Greater Boston’s oldest independent children’s bookstore, The Children’s Book Shop has been selling a wide variety of kids books at its 237 Washington Street store since 1977.
"We have provided good books, great service and long-lasting memories for young readers and their families for 45 years in our welcoming Brookline Village store,” the owners said.

Residents and local officials took to social media over the weekend to thank The Children’s Book Shop for all it has done for the Brookline community.
"This is a big loss for Brookline's readers, both small and formerly small,” wrote Brookline Rep. Tommy Vitolo. "Thank you @TCBS_Brookline for all the memories!”
