Conan O'Brien Speaks Out On Death Of His Parents: Report

O'Brien's parents both recently died in their Brookline residence.

BROOKLINE, MA — Late-night comedian Conan O’Brien shared remarks on the recent deaths of his parents, according to a report from E News.

Dr. Thomas O’Brien and Ruth Reardon O’Brien both died in their Brookline home at the ages of 95 and 92 respectively. Thomas O’Brien died on Monday, Dec. 9, with his wife following soon after on Thursday, Dec. 12. Conan O'Brien is one of six children the couple raised in Brookline during their 66-year marriage.

Conan O’Brien remembered his father as an ambitious “dreamer” who had compassion for all people. Meanwhile, he described his mother as the caretaker who made sure he and his five siblings were well-fed and looked after.

“If anyone was unhappy around my mom in a 50-mile radius, she thought it was incumbent on her to fix the problem," Conan O’brien said. "It did not make her life easy, but it was very much a part of her Catholic drive — that 'I have to be of service to people.' And good God, she was."
