• Marking Good Friday: For many Christians, this marks the day Jesus was crucified. Among Brookline churches holding services: Church of the Redeemer holds a with Holy Eucharist at noon. They also hold an (for all ages) at 5 p.m.

• Passover begins: Sundown starts the week-long Jewish celebration of Passover, commemorating the story of the Exodus, in which the ancient Israelites were freed from slavery in Egypt. Among the Brookline seders to choose from: at the Chadbad Center of Chestnut Hill and the at the Chabad Chai Center.

• If it's Friday, this must be the Brookline Main Library: where the regular weekly 10 a.m. showing of is happening: a weekly video program for preschool children 2 years and older. Parents and caregivers can come, too. 

• Music at EPOCH: keyboardist Mark Tavenner is performing at 11:30 a.m. at EPOCH Senior Healthcare of Chestnut Hill. Check out the YouTube video of his playing 'Bumble Boogie Piano.'

• Time to just dance: Dance Friday at Brookline Tai Chi. Come dance with your kids starting at 7:15 p.m: dance barefoot or however you want, in a smoke- and alcohol-free space. All ages are welcome; children must be accompanied by a supervising adult. Admission: $10-15, under 23: $5-15 or donate 45 minutes of your time to help out.
