Grossman also previously served as Chair of the Democratic National Committee and is CEO of the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City.

The Governor's Council is made up of eight elected Councilors who vet and vote on judicial nominations, commutations and pardons, and members of the Parole Board. “I have worked closely with Mara Dolan for many years and can attest to her integrity, work ethic and unique qualifications for the Governor's Council,” Grossman said in a statement. “The Council has never had a full-time public defender and we badly need her perspective and insights to ensure superb judicial appointments. Barbara and I have already voted for her with pride and urge others to join us.”

“Steve Grossman’s exceptional professionalism and commitment to public service go above and beyond in every way,” Dolan said in a statement. “After serving as our State Treasurer, he continued to work to serve the public good by strengthening inner-city economies. Those are just some of the reasons he is enormously respected and liked throughout the Commonwealth. I am beyond proud to have earned his endorsement and his vote.”
