State Lawmakers Stop By Brookline To Discuss Trump's Policies: Report

BROOKLINE, MA — Five Democratic Lawmakers visited Brookline for a public forum about navigating some of President Donald Trump and his administration’s recent policies, according to a report from Brookline News.

The Brookline Democratic Town Committee welcomed state Sen. Cynthia Stone Creem and state Reps. Kevin Honan, William MacGregor, Greg Schwartz and Tommy Vitolo.

The event was moderated by Brookline Democrats Treasurer Tom Hallock, until attendees were allowed to pose their own questions toward the end of the night.

Schwartz, a medical doctor, said that $14 billion of state Medicaid reimbursement could be lost if Trump’s “big beautiful bill” is passed.

All five legislators emphasized the importance of climate resilient efforts and eco-friendly initiatives as federal efforts on that front continue to decrease.

MacGregor and Creem expressed how they believe the Democratic party must reinvent and revitalize itself if it wants to win elections in the future. In terms of direct response, Creem cited the state Senate’s new committee, Response 2025, as a potential solution to the Trump administration’s cuts.
