Team Brookline's Mission: $100,000 for Local Charities

Twenty-four Brookline residents will take part in the Boston Marathon on April 15 on behalf of Team Brookline. Team Brookline is hoping to raise $100,000 for Brookline social services. 

At this point, Team Brookline is the pioneer amongst the nearby towns and cities in terms of creating a town-wide team dedicated to and run by four collaborating non-profit organization.

With just over five weeks to go, Team Brookline is racing to raise enough money. Thus far, supporters have pledged $70,029 in donations from $10 to $4,000. Each runner has committed to raising $5,000.

Businesses are also invited to show their community pride through Team-wide, Town-wide sponsorships starting at $500 and $1000.The organizations will share all the proceeds equally, with each standing to benefit by at least $25,000.

“When we started having conversations a year ago about what a town-wide team would look like, we had a vision of what it would look like to bring multiple organizations together and to bring large groups of runners working together and training together and how bringing these groups to create synergy, unity and a common goal,” vice president for development for Brookline Community Mental Health Center Nancy Vineberg said.

Each runner is representing a charity, four of which have surpassed the $5,000 requirement. The runners are representing the Brookline Community Mental Health Center, The Brookline Education Foundation, The Brookline Library Foundation, and the Brookline Teen Center.
