Treasurer Deb Goldberg Endorses Brookline Rep. Tommy Vitolo

Goldberg has served as State Treasurer and Receiver General since 2015 and served on the Brookline Select Board from 1998 until 2004.

BROOKLINE, MA — Massachusetts Treasurer Deb Goldberg has endorsed Tommy Vitolo's re-election to the Massachusetts House of Representatives.

Goldberg has served as State Treasurer and Receiver General since 2015 and served two terms on the Brookline Select Board from 1998 until 2004.

"As a lifelong Brookline resident and your State Treasurer, I am truly appreciative of the work that Tommy Vitolo does on behalf of the community,” Goldberg said in a statement. "Tommy fights for the values and issues that we care deeply about and effectively represents us every day.”

Goldberg was born and raised in Brookline and attended Boston University (BA), Boston College (JD), and Harvard University (MBA). She is the daughter of Carol and Avram Goldberg, former Stop & Shop president and chairman of the board, respectively. Goldberg is the first Jewish woman elected to statewide office in Massachusetts.

"Deb Goldberg is a leader who has fought for progressive values every single day of her career, as a Stop & Shop executive, as Chair of the Brookline Select Board, as our local Democratic State Committee member, and now as our Treasurer,” Vitolo said in a statement. "I'm proud to have earned the support of Deb Goldberg, my neighbor, my ally, and my friend.”

In addition to Treasurer Deb Goldberg, Vitolo has been endorsed by 80 percent of the Select Board, 80 percent of all town-wide elected officials including all elected chairs, and 75 percent of Town Meeting Members.

He has also been endorsed by Senator Cindy Creem, former Governor Mike Dukakis, former MA-4 Congressman Barney Frank, philanthropist Chobee Hoy, Senior Center Board of Directors President Betsy Pollock, Climate Action Brookline Co-chairs Susan Martin and John Harris, over two dozen former Select Board and School Committee Members, three former Brookline State Representatives, four former Brookline principals, Brookline PAX, the Environmental League of Massachusetts Action Fund, the Boston Teachers Union, Iron Workers Local 7, the Mass Organization of State Engineers and Scientists, and the Massachusetts Voters for Animals.
