Unique Art Center Opening In Brookline

Vinfen's Gateway Arts focuses on giving artists with disabilities opportunities.

BROOKLINE, MA — The town is getting ready to launch the largest center for artists with disabilities to Brookline Village next week.

Vinfen’s Gateway Arts is opening its newest location on 15 Station St. A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony is slated for Tuesday, July 8 at 11 a.m. The nonprofit has been in operation for more than 50 years, working to create opportunities for and uplift artists with disabilities. Gateway Arts supports nearly 100 artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health diagnoses, brain injuries, and other neurodiverse conditions.

The Station Street project will include an expanded studio, gallery, and store for 100 of Gateway’s artists. The Community Studio will give visiting artists the chance to teach their skills to Gateway creators. In addition, it will include seven multimedia production studios which gives artists the tools to craft paintings, drawings, collages, textiles, fabrics, and ceramics.
