Watch Brookline Face Off Against Acton-Boxborough On Quiz Show

BROOKLINE, MA — It was a close game as Brookline High School and Acton-Boxborough High School went head-to-head in the last semifinal match of season 10 on the High School Quiz Show. In the end, Acton-Boxborogh edged ahead with a score of 345 to Brookline's 325. Although BHS didn't win, they did go pretty far.

"Congratulations to Brookline for a great run on High School Quiz Show this season!" said Emily Balk of WGBH in an email.

It's the fifth season Brookline has competed on WGBH's High School Quiz Show. This season Brookline was among 15 other schools who got the highest scores out of hundreds that auditioned during an oral quiz at the Super Sunday qualifying event held last fall at WGBH's TV studios.

The top 16 teams advanced to compete in the televised, single-elimination, bracketed academic tournament that will determine a state champion.

Questions on the show are aligned with the Massachusetts high school curriculum standards in subjects that include literature, history, civics, science and math, as well as current events, and general knowledge.

Acton-Boxborogh is now facing off against Boston Latin in the state finals.

After that, the season culminates with an Interstate Invitational, featuring WGBH's High School Quiz Show state champions competing against New Hampshire PBS' Granite State Challenge state champions, the High School Quiz Show: Rhode Island state champions and the High School Quiz Show: Maine state champions for the final title, according to a release.
