Cambridge to Host Debates For Senate and Rep Seats July 21

Pair of debates on July 21 to be held at the CCTV studios in Central Square

CAMBRIDGE, MA - Cambridge Community Television (CCTV) and Somerville Community Access Television (SCATV) announced today that the candidates for the 2nd Middlesex Senate District, and the 27th Middlesex Representative district have agreed to a pair of debates on July 21 to be held at the CCTV studios in Central Square (438 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02139). The taping, open to the public, begins at 6 p.m. with doors opening for first-come-first-served audience seating at 5:30 p.m.

The 6 p.m. event is a debate between incumbent state Senator Pat Jehlen and challenger, Cambridge City Councillor, Leland Cheung. Later that evening, incumbent State Representative Tim Toomey will face challenger Mike Connolly in a debate starting at 7:30 p.m.

Produced and moderated by Joe Lynch of SCATV, the hour-long format will feature media panelists from Cambridge and Somerville (and Medford in the case of the 2nd Middlesex Senate district race) asking questions of the candidates. A final 15-minute period will be set aside in each debate for a candidate-to-candidate session before closing remarks from the candidates.
