Cambridge Receives Grant For Reservoir Protection

The Upper Hobbs Brook Reservoir spans across the communities of Cambridge, Lincoln, Lexington, and Waltham.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — The city has received $350,000 from Gov. Maura Healey and her administration for the purpose of preserving drinking water.

The funds will be used to facilitate the protection of an additional 20 acres of land west of the Hobbs Brook Reservoir, bringing the total area of protected land up to 72 acres with the goal of preserving critical water supply.

Cambridge is co-purchasing the new land with the town of Lincoln. The grant is funded through the Drinking Water Supply Protection program. Cambridge is one of five communities who received funds, and its $350,000 grant is the highest among them all.
