Elderly Woman Killed In Cambridge Fire, Six People Displaced

Fire officials are investigating the cause of a 3-alarm fire in Cambridge that left one woman dead and six people without a home.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — Firefighters confirm an elderly woman has died in a Cambridge house fire that also left six people displaced Wednesday morning.

The fire was first reported from a 3-story home around 7:30 a.m. on Webster Avenue.

Heavy smoke could be seen from streets over, sending in firefighters and emergency crews who were able to attack the fire and bring it under control within an hour, Fire Chief Gerry Mahoney said.

Cambridge Police confirmed on Twitter that parts of multiple streets are closed off, including Webster Avenue, Plymouth Street, Hampshire Street, and Bristol Street.

It is unclear if there were any injuries.

The Fire Marshall is heading to the scene to help work to investigate the cause of the fire.
