CAMBRIDGE, MA — Harvard University announced the launch of an investigation into former University President and current professor Larry Summers after newly released documents detail his relationship with convicted child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, according to a report from The Harvard Crimson.

The thousands of documents released by the House of Representatives reportedly included exchanges between Epstein and Summers in which Summers sought Epstein’s advice for his pursuit of a romantic relationship with a woman he described as his mentee. The communication continued through July 2019 leading up to Epstein’s arrest.

Summers has since resigned or been let go from several organizations including The New York Times, Bloomberg News, and Open AI. However, he has expressed his intentions to continue teaching.
