Harvard Pauses All Hiring Due To Federal Funding Concerns
The University does not plan on making any staffing additions for the remainder of the semester.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — Harvard University announced a temporary pause on all staff hiring Monday, citing financial uncertainty due to concerns about the federal funding policies of President Donald Trump and his administration.
While the University’s leadership emphasized that the pause is only temporary, it plans to leave it in effect through the end of the current semester.
“We need to prepare for a wide range of financial circumstances, and strategic adjustments will take time to identify and implement,” Harvard President Alan Garber, Provost John Manning, Executive Vice President Meredith Weenick, and CFO Ritu Kalra said in a joint statement. “Consequently, it is imperative to limit significant new long-term commitments that would increase our financial exposure and make further adjustments more disruptive.”
