Dear Parents and Guardians,

The Canton Public School District has convened a task force to begin the process of reviewing the District calendar. Our goal is to create a calendar that operationalizes the priorities of the CPS Strategic Framework while working to maximize quality learning time for teachers & students and also respecting the diversity within our community.

The District Calendar Task Force (DCTF) will be a diverse group of stakeholders who have important perspectives based on different roles, experiences, grade levels and skill sets.  We are looking to leverage these perspectives around the many considerations involved in creating a District calendar.  For greater detail, we encourage you to review the District Calendar Task Force Charter.

Parent/Guardian representation will be a critical component of the District Calendar Task Force. In addition to availability and flexibility the following criteria will serve as key considerations for the designation of parent/guardian representatives:

  • Understand the complexity of the issue of creating the District calendar in a way that operationalizes the CPS Strategic Framework and meets the needs of a diverse set of  stakeholders
  • Be genuinely committed to the success of the District calendar and advocate for broad input, understanding and support of the outcomes being pursued
  • Foster positive relationships and communications within and outside of the DCTF
  • Be open to learning; consider new ideas and seek to understand issues raised

The Task Force is scheduled to meet on the following dates:

  • January 13 at 5:30pm – in person meeting at Rodman Administrative Building
  • January 27 at 5:30pm – Zoom meeting
  • February 10 at 5:30pm – TBD, pending group decision

If you are interested in participating on the District Calendar Task Force, please submit your information on this Google Form by Thursday, December 23, 2021: District Calendar Task Force RSVP

We will connect directly with all interested applicants about the next steps by January 4, 2022, and look forward to your partnership in this work.
