Selectmen Honor Canton Police and Firefighters

Police officers and firefighters honored last night by board.

The honored members of the and Departments last night with commendations for their heroic actions.

Canton Police Officer Mike Lank and Officer Rob Quirk received commendations from the board for their efforts in a recent arrest. Firefighters James Meier, Lyle Chandler, Wayne MacDonald, Christopher Hiltz, Nicolas Pino, Thomas Brown and Charles Sudhalter also received commendations from the board for their efforts in saving two patients who had gone into cardiac arrest.

"People think you save people every day," Canton said. "But you don't do it everyday. It's one of the most gratifying and important things you'll ever do."

Canton Police Chief Kenneth Berkowitz said his officers were instrumental in making a recent arrest and wanted to acknowledge the two for their service to the community and their professionalism.

All the recipients received honors from the Board of Selectmen, along with congratulations and applause from family, friends and coworkers that attended the ceremony at Town Hall Tuesday.
