5 Things: Solar Challenge, School Committee and More

A quick look at what you need to see, do and know on June 27 in Concord.

1. Concord Solar Challenge Solar Installation: From 10 a.m. to about 4 p.m. today, you can stop by 606 Strawberry Hill Road to watch solar panels go up at the home of Debbie Barr and Elliott Thompson. The “open house” is also a chance to ask questions of the homeowners and the installers from Astrum Solar, Concord's vendor partner in the Concord Solar Challenge. For more information on the challenge, you can contact Concord Solar Coach Jill Appel at 978-371-7270 or jill.appel@comcast.net.

2. Today in Public Meetings:
According to the town website, public meetings posted for today include a Concord and Concord Carlisle School Committees Joint Meeting at 6 p.m. at the CCHS Library, the Finance Committee at 7:30 p.m. and the Hanscom Area Towns Committee at 7:30 p.m. at the Town House.

3. Our New Look: As you can see, Concord Patch debuted its new look and some new features today. In addition to looking a little more like Lexington, one thing we’re really excited about is the boards – a new feature that will make it easier for you, our readers and active participants on Patch, to share your announcements, opinions and updates. I hope you’ll take a few minutes to check out the new site and let us know what you think!

4. Exhibition: Landscapes and Moonscapes: Just a few more days to check out “Landscapes and Moonscapes,” an exhibit of charcoal drawings by Maynard resident Cynthia Rodday and watercolor paintings by Groton resident Terry Durell, which will be on display at the Concord Free Public Library through June 29.

5. Looks Like Rain: Isolated showers, and then possible thunderstorms are in the forecast for today, which should also be cooler with a high of 79, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts heavy rain and more possible thunderstorms overnight with a low of 65.
