Five Concord Students Earn National Merit Scholarship

Another round of National Merit scholarships were handed out this week to just 36 students across Massachusetts.

CONCORD, MA — Five students from Concord were among the 36 graduating seniors across Massachusetts who earned a scholarship sponsored by a university. The students came from Concord-Carlisle Regional High School, Concord Academy and Milton Academy.

The five students from Concord are:

  • Carson S. Detweiler
  • Emma Drisko
  • Sarah E. Hoover
  • Madeline J. Mueller
  • Audrey Vo

This week's scholarships are the third round handed out so far in 2020. The National Merit Scholarship Corp. announced 3,300 winners across the U.S. on Wednesday. Each student will get between $500 and $2,000. An additional round of college based scholarships will be announced in July, according to the NMSC.

Detweiler is a senior at Concord-Carlisle Regional High School and plans on studying engineering. Detweiler's scholarship was sponsored by Purdue University.

Drisko is a senior at Milton Academy and plans on studying molecular biology. Her scholarship was sponsored by Northwestern University.

Hoover is a senior at Concord-Carlisle Regional High School and plans on studying computer science. Her scholarship was sponsored by Vanderbuilt University.

Mueller is a senior at Concord-Carlisle Regional High School and plans on studying chemistry. Her scholarship was sponsored by Tufts University.

Vo is a senior at Concord Academy and plans on studying journalism. Vo's scholarship was sponsored by University of Rochester.
