2 New Danvers Restaurants Planned For Maple Street

The Select Board this week approved alcohol licenses for two new spots looking to open this fall.

DANVERS, MA — Danvers residents and visitors should soon have two new dining and drinking options on Maple Street within the next few months after the Select Board this week approved the alcohol license for Craft Kitchen + Bar and Trapezoid Rising.

Craft Kitchen + Bar is set to open in the former Giovanni's Pizza & Roast Beef location at 62 Maple Street under the direction of former Lynnfield House of Pizza operator George Tsatsis.

An attorney representing Tsatsis at the meeting said Tsatsis and his wife, Amanda, have lived in Danvers for the past 14 years together with Amanda Tsatsis a lifelong Danvers resident.

"The Giovanni's restaurant has been vacant for a number of years and it felt like a lot longer than that sitting there, languishing," the attorney said. "A restaurant is a family business for Mr. Tsatsis. He started working under his father at a very young age. Lynnfield House of Pizza was transferred last year and Mr. Tsatsis decided that as a Danvers resident, he wanted to bring his experience, his talents as a restauranteur to Danvers, the community in which he lives, and is going to remain for awhile."

Craft Kitchen + Bar will offer "American fare with a Mediterranean twist," including pizza, shrimp scampi, chicken parmesan, burgers, along with craft beer, wine and craft cocktails. There is planned to be restaurant seating for 29 and bar seating for 16, as well as a separate food and ice cream takeout area.

The attorney said the restaurant is expected to open as early as Oct. 1 and likely by Nov. 1.

Trapezoid Rising will offer "casual restaurant fare" under the direction of longtime chef Timothy Caldwell, who has been involved in the restaurant business for 35 years, at 50 Maple Street.

Caldwell said his menu will focus on comfort and value with specials and a rotating menu possible based on market prices to keep meals affordable for customers.

An attorney for Caldwell said renovations are underway that are expected to be completed by mid-September with Caldwell saying that his intention is to open by Sept. 30.
