5 Things You Need to Know Today, March 5

1. We're excited to welcome our newest blogger, Robert Giblin, to the Patch family. Robert is going to be blogging about his brother Matt's experiences while competing in the 2012 Iditarod in Alaska. 2. A huge congratulations to the Danvers Boys Basketball team, who dominated on Saturday night in their Division 3 North quarterfinal game, defeating Pentucket 75-45. Way to go, Falcons!

4. Bidding in the online auction to benefit begins today and continues until Monday, March 12. Items include premiere seating for Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins games, autographed sports memorabilia, a week at the Royal Palm Beach Resort in St. Maarten, golf packages, and gourmet dining. .

5. March came in like a lion, but will it stay like that this week? Today will be chilly, with a high only forecasted to reach 32 degrees, but stay tuned for Thursday--forecasters are looking at a high near 60.
