Bookkeeper Pleads Not Guilty To Stealing From Danvers Business

Patricia Lindau, 60, Newburgh, ME, is accused of stealing $60,300 from two small businesses in Danvers and Haverhill.

DANVERS, MA — A Maine woman pleaded not guilty in Newburyport District Court Thursday to charges she stole $60,300 from two small businesses located in Danvers and Haverhill.

Lindau owned and operated Northeast Abacus Inc., a payroll processing service in Newburyport. The criminal complaint accuses her of stealing the money by not paying state taxes for the two companies.

Lindau was charged with two counts larceny and two counts embezzlement by tax preparer. The investigation is ongoing and Lindau could face additional charges, the Essex County District Attorney's office said earlier this month.
