The Board of Selectmen recently voted to officially accept the donation of a Protective Tactical Vest for the Department’s newest K9, Stryka. The funds for the vest were donated by Karen Hudson Lounsbury and friends, in memory of Lounsbury’s son, Private First Class Bryan Lounsbury.

PFC Lounsbury was born in the Army hospital in Frankfurt, Germany, and the family lived in Cambridge. From a very early age, he expressed an interest in the military – always knowing he was going in the Army. Every Halloween, he wore an Army uniform, which was his father’s or his uncle’s. After graduating from Minuteman High School in 2007, he enlisted in the Army as a Cav Scout. He was a Private First Class in the United States Army and died at age 18 while on Active Duty stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.
