Christmas Tree Tradition in Danvers Square Almost 90 Years Old

The tradition of having a Christmas tree in Danvers Square is almost 90 years old.
People in Town Hall recall at least 89 years, according Ann Freitas, but they can not pinpoint the year it began. Freitas serves as executive assistant.

The tree will likely be cut down on Dec. 1, and moved to the square on Dec. 2.
SAVE THE DATE: Danvers annual tree lighting will be held on Dec. 5. Officials have not yet released specific information on this year’s event.
