Danvers Approves Hybrid School Reopening Plan
Most Danvers students will go to school two days per week and attend classes remotely three per week when school starts Sept. 16.
DANVERS, MA — The Danvers school committee approved a hybrid reopening plan for schools when students return Sept. 16.
Under the plan approved Thursday, most Danvers students will go to school two days per week and attend classes remotely three per week. Students will be divided into two cohorts, and all students would learn remotely on Wednesdays. High needs students would report to school fo in-person learning four days per week.
"No matter what decisions are made, there will be people who will be unhappy," school committee chair David Thomson said, noting that he had received more correspondence on the reopening issue than any other issue in his eight years on the board.

Monday is the last day school districts can submit their plans to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. DESE charged school systems in June with developing three possible reopening plans: one that would involve full-time, in-person learning, one that would involve full-time, remote learning, and a third, hybrid model combining remote and in-person learning.
