Danvers Coronavirus: Schools Provide Meals To Citizens In Need
Danvers Public Schools said it will offer meal pickups to "all citizens in need" in an expansion if its meal program.
DANVERS, MA — Danvers Public Schools said Monday it will expand its school lunch program to "all Danvers citizens in need" during the three-week, state-ordered closure of all Massachusetts schools.
Danvers citizens who want a prepared lunch should email lunch@danvers.org by 9 a.m. each day with their name, address, the number of family members and their lunch of choices. Meals will be delivered by food services staff members. Lunch options include turkey and cheese, ham and cheese and tuna salad sandwiches.
On Sunday, Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker ordered all schools closed for at least three weeks. The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is working with school districts to develop distance learning programs and to make sure vital services offered by schools would still be available during the three-week closure.
