Danvers Downtown Road, Sidewalk Work To Cause 2 Weeks Of Disruption

Milling work on High Street will begin Sunday at 7 p.m.

DANVERS, MA — Two weeks of road, sidewalk and curb accessibility work in downtown Danvers will begin with night road work on High Street starting Sunday night.

The work will take place from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday through Tuesday from the intersectionof Porter Street to Water Street.

The Department of Public Works said the roadwork will take place at night with daytime work, including sidewalk restoration, curb adjustments and handicap ramp construction, taking place during the day over the next two weeks.

"Conducting this construction work overnight is crucial to minimize disruption of businesses, daily traffic and ensure the safety of the working staff," Danvers DPW said. "We understand that some residents and businesses residing on High Street may experience periods of noise disturbance during the nighttime construction hours.

"The town and the construction crews will make every effort to keep noise levels to a minimum and complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible."

Periodically on street parking will be prohibited to facilitate the work with signs posted.

Temporary traffic controls will be used to circumvent vehicles around the equipment with police details helping direct traffic.

"We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve the infrastructure of our community," Danvers DPW said.
