Danvers Electric Fees Rise To Start 2025

Danvers Electric said that while rates will remain unchanged, the fixed fees all customers must pay will increase by up to 33 percent.

DANVERS, MA — Most Danvers Electric customers will see an increase in their bills as fees rise to cover infrastructure, metering, billing, and administrative operations.

Danvers Electric said that while electric rates will remain the same, the fees charged to all customers will increase by up to 33 percent — meaning a 2.1 percent increase in billing for the single-family homeowner with average consumption in town.

The changes take effect as of January 2025.

The updated customer charges are as follows:

• Residential (R1): $10.00 (previously $7.50)
• Small General (G1): $14.76 (previously $11.07)
• Medium General (G2): $54.66 (previously $40.99)
• Large General (G3): $273.22 (previously $210.00)

The Municipal Light Board approved the increases at its Dec. 19 meeting.

The Municipal Light Board said it worked closely with industry consultants to evaluate the financial needs of the Electric Division and to determine appropriate customer charges.

"These adjustments reflect the commitment to maintaining a financially sustainable utility while continuing to provide reliable and affordable service to customers," the town said in announcing the increases on Friday.

Danvers Electric said the average single-family homeowner will see their bill increase from $107.70 to $109.95.
