Danvers Great Oak Students' 'Snow Force One' A Winning Brainstorm
The students were among the winners of the state Department of Transportation's annual "Name A Snowplow" contest.
DANVERS, MA — Danvers students in Mrs. Butler's class from the Great Oak Elementary School had a winning brainstorm with their suggestion of "Snow Force One" in the state Department of Transportation's annual "Name A Snowplow" contest for elementary and middle school students.
MassDOT said Danvers was one of 12 cities and towns with winning entries in the contest designed to celebrate the snow and ice season and to help recognize the hard work and dedication shown by public works employees and contractors during the winter season.
"Maintaining safe and clear roads across Massachusetts during winter is no easy task," Transportation Secretary and CEO Monica Tibbits-Nutt said. "We appreciate how educators are engaging their students in this fun competition that honors this vital public service

Danvers students were the District 4 winners in the elementary school categories, with other winners including: Lenox Morris Elementary School "Snowana"; New Salem Swift River School "Control-Salt-Delete); Framingham Brophy Elementary School "Abominable Plowman"; Dighton Elementary School "Taylor Drift"; Milton St. Mary of the Hills School "Ice S'now More."

"This contest is a great way for schools across the state to connect with the crews who work tirelessly to keep our roads clear each winter," Highway Administrator Jonathan Gulliver said. "Thank you to everyone who took part in this contest, and congratulations to our winners."
