Danvers Man Sentenced After Guilty Plea In Child Porn Case

DANVERS, MA — A U.S. District Court judge in Boston sentenced a Danvers man who admitted to possessing child pornography to three years in prison and five years supervised release Thursday.
Joseph Corbett, 51, of Danvers, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography in March. Corbett was arrested in June 2019 after the Department of Homeland Security searched his home and found an iPhone with images showing sexual abuse of girls between the ages of 6 and 8 years old.
As part of the plea agreement, a charge of distribution of child pornography was dropped.

During an interview with investigators following his arrest, he admitted to using the app to access child porn messaging groups and gave investigators descriptions of the images he had received, according to the indictment.
Kik removed the content and closed Corbett's account after the images were reported to the company. Kik then contacted federal investigators, who applied for the warrant to search Corbett's home.
