Danvers Police ID Crossing Guard, Cite Beverly Driver In Crash

DANVERS, MA — The Danvers public schools crossing guard who was seriously injured in a crash Wednesday morning is Susan Turner, police said Friday. Police, who described Turner's injuries as serious after the crash, did not offer an update on her status. Penny King, 58, of Beverly, was driving the car that hit Turner at the intersection Belgian Road and Poplar Street around 7 a.m. Wednesday.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Susan and her family as she recovers," Danvers police said in a statement. Turner has worked as a crossing guard for 19 years.
King, who remained at the scene after the crash, was cited for negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
