DANVERS, MA — Hundreds of Danvers customers were in the dark during the height of Monday morning's strong storm when a power outage affected the area of Highland Mead0ws and Old Salem Village.

Crews were working to restore the power later Monday morning.

The Danvers customers were among more than 100,000 across Massachusetts without power with wind gusts as high as 76 at the Blue Hills Observation and up to four inches of rain causing flooding across the region.

The storm was expected to remain intense through the early afternoon before rain and wind taper toward evening.
