Danvers 'Safe Watch' Program To Protect Those At 'Risk Of Wandering'

The information shared could help police be aware of residents who have autism, dementia, Alzheimer's and other cognitive issues.

DANVERS, MA — The Danvers Police Department has launched a new "Safe Watch" program designed to make police aware of, and help protect, those residents "at risk of wandering" — such as some autistic residents and those suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

Those with family members or people under their care who might be at risk can enroll them in the program that shares information with police before an incident happens.

"If a loved one goes missing or becomes disoriented, our officers will already have the details needed to respond quickly and safely," police said.
