Danvers Selectman Stepping Down
The decision by a Danvers selectman to not seek reelection could set up a contested race in this spring's election.
DANVERS, MA — Selectman Diane Langlais will not run for reelection in spring's town election after seven years on the board and more than 20 years in elected and appointed service to Danvers.
"It’s someone else’s turn," Langlais told the Danvers Herald, which first reported this story. "I’m leaving with the same energy I came in with...I'm really going to miss it. I love the all day budget sessions."
Langlais's seat is the only seat on the board of selectmen up for reelection in the May 5 election. Voter's will also choose candidates for two seats on the school committee, three seats on the board of library trustees, town moderator, and a one-year term on the Danvers Housing Authority. Several seats in town meeting are also up for reelection.
