Danvers Tavern Facing Fourth Liquor License Violation
Police say the Osborn Tavern over-served three woman one night last month, including one who tried to drive home.
DANVERS, MA — Police say the Osborn Tavern in Danvers over-served three women on Aug. 30, including one who was pulled over as she tried to drive away from the Maple Street establishment. The Osborn's owners successfully appealed two of the three suspensions Danvers selectmen handed it for incidents last year. The incident at the Osborn was part of an update on liquor law violations that Danvers Police Chief Patrick Ambrose delivered to selectmen last week.
Also at the Sept. 17 meeting, selectmen gave Mexicali Mexican Grille a one-day liquor license suspension for serving an underage patron during police compliance checks on Aug. 5. The Breakaway restaurant is also facing disciplinary action for over-serving a customer on Aug. 17 who was picking fights in the bar before being placed in protective custody.
Mexicali got off with a warning in March after a January incident in which a woman who had been drinking margaritas at the bar drove off of Route 114 into a drainage area after missing the onramp to Interstate 95.
